Advising the government on key strategic priorities and driving sustainable growth through Public-Private Partnership (PPPs)

2. Develop the Diaspora Intelligentsia Database

A centralized resource of professionals for partnerships and knowledge transfer.

3. Promote Diaspora-Led Investment

Establish the Ghana Diaspora Fund and Diaspora Bank.

4. Mobilize Knowledge Transfer

 Contribute expertise through on-ground involvement or virtual collaboration to advance national infrastructure and industrialization.

5. Harness Diaspora
Finance

Leverage the financial potential of a 4 million-strong diaspora community and $4.8 billion in annual remittances and their investment interest to fuel structured development initiatives.

LEARNING FROM GLOBAL DIASPORA SUCCESS

Diaspora Bonds
  • Israel: Issuing diaspora bonds since 1951.
  • India: Successful diaspora bonds in 1991, 1998, and 200.
  • Kenya & Nigeria: Leveraged diaspora bonds for capital.
Knowledge Transfer
  • China: Zhan Tianyou and other engineers contributed to Chinese high-speed rail development after overseas experience and education.
  • Rwanda: Used diaspora professionals for national reforms.

Lesson: Ghana can replicate these successes by leveraging global talents.

2023 Remittance Inflows: $4.8 billion. This accounts for 6% of GDP which surpassed Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Foreign Direct Investment in 2023.
